About me
I’ve always loved clothes, but for years I found myself caught in the cycle of buying more and more, always chasing the feeling of “getting it right,” yet never truly satisfied. Looking back, I realize I wasn’t being mindful, I was consuming without pausing to ask why, perhaps trying to fill a gap that clothes were never meant to fill.
That began to change when I started thinking about the bigger picture: the entire supply chain, from how garments are made to where they end up once we stop wearing them. The truth is, fast fashion thrives on speed and disposability, encouraging us to buy endlessly without considering the real cost, not just in money, but in resources, labor, and waste. I saw how much of my own wardrobe reflected that culture of excess, and how empty it left me feeling.
In contrast, I thought of my grandmother, Geneviève. She was a seamstress with a gift for creating clothing with intent, time, and purpose. Every stitch mattered. She taught me that clothes could embody care, craft, and expression - not just consumption. That memory became a compass, reminding me that fashion can and should hold meaning.
Rewear LA is my way of turning those realizations into action. This community is about slowing down, paying attention, and recognizing the value in what already exists. It’s about supporting the people who resell, repair, and curate clothing in ways that give it new life, and about seeing those choices not as compromises but as opportunities for creativity, individuality, and joy.
I believe second-hand fashion can be both sustainable and inspiring. Whether discovered online or in person, the right spaces make the experience feel exciting and meaningful. My hope is that Rewear LA will shine a light on those spaces and help more people rediscover the power (and the fun 🤩) of building wardrobes entirely from second-hand pieces.
Wear what matters. Rewear what lasts.
Love,
-Laurence
